My current position is Agricultural Engineer in the Area Office of the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).  Before graduation I had the opportunity to co-op with NRCS for two summers.  There are three Area Offices in ND and there is a Field Office in almost every county in ND. My duties include providing technical assistance to Field Offices with all engineering practices and also to provide training to the staff. At this time, the majority of my work consists of designing agricultural waste management systems.  Other engineering projects I’m involved with are: livestock water pipelines, ponds, diversions, waterways and irrigation structures.  Some of the activities of these projects I specialize in are planning, surveying, soil investigation, design, drafting, construction specifications and construction bid packages.  The NDSU Ag and Biosystems Engineering program helped me specialize my degree in soil and water conservation.

Each of the pictures above were taken while conducting a survey using survey grade GPS equipment.  The first picture is of me on a four wheeler that we use to conduct a survey.  The second picture is of me standing by what we call our base unit.
