The education I received from the ABEN Department at NDSU helped me succeed as a manufacturing engineer for the John Deere Seeding Group. My core job responsibility is to ensure that the manufacturing lines for the John Deere air seeding equipment run safely and efficiently. Everyday is an opportunity to learn something new, whether I am working with the weld, paint, or assembly departments. The manufacturing department also works heavily with the product development team to introduce new products into the market.
It is also necessary for me to work directly with operators on the floor and individuals in the office, which requires the ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally. Other things I learned at NDSU were the ability to analyze data to come to resolution in a timely manner, and the ability to adapt to change as the manufacturing industry is a dynamic work environment. These are some of the most important skills that a student can learn while enrolled in the ABEN program.
