Peter Polansky
As a Production Assistant at ADM, I help oversee the day-to-day operations of a softseed crush plant. Since I have started, I have gained extensive knowledge of how a large, complex plant operates. I have spent time learning the plant, shift supervising, and managing different areas of the plant. This particular plant processes canola and sunflower into edible vegetable oil. We also have a solid biofuel boiler, a backpressure turbine for generating electricity, an edible bean packing line, and an organic soymilk line so there are many things to see.

The classes in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering at NDSU gave me a well-rounded education to deal with various problems that arise in a large processing plant. Dealing with things on a practical and applied basis is something I learned from the ABEN Department. Leadership skills from time spent in clubs at NDSU such as ASABE have greatly helped when supervising employees.
