Irrigation Water Management at the
Carrington Research and Extension Center

The Carrington Irrigation Research and Extension Center is trying to provide farmers and researches with information on the optimum applications of irrigation water and fertilizers to cost effectively grow high-value crops in North Dakota.  Potatoes, beans, carrots and onions are being grown under irrigation with two water application criteria and various fertility trials under each water application.  Dry land plots are also established to compare yields with dry land farming.  The new two-tower center pivot was setup in 1999 and is designed to control irrigation water application to each crop and water management zone shown on the research plot plan.

Select the soil moisture graph for each crop and water management zone below.  These graphs will be updated throughout the growing season, so stop by often and watch the changes as the season progresses.
