The Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering is housed in the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Building (ABEN Building) located in the center of campus. It contains 19,680 sq ft, which includes laboratories, offices, storage, and classrooms. Food engineering research and a food engineering lab are taught in the Pilot Plant Building. Food quality sensor research is conducted in a single laboratory room in Harris Hall. The ABEN Building houses the teaching, research, and extension faculty, graduate students, and most staff. The majority of the teaching is done in the ABEN Building. Three classrooms are equipped with permanently installed computer projection equipment. Three classrooms are equipped with Personal Response Systems (PRS).
The Bio-imaging and Sensing Center is located in room 210B of the ABEN building. This facility was developed to serve research and teaching needs for integrating emerging artificially intelligence technologies for biological and agricultural applications. The Bio-imaging and Sensing Center is committed to discovery, development and adaptation of cost-effective and workable solutions for problems in agriculture, food, feed, and fiber production, processing, and associated bio-systems.
