The agricultural systems management program requires successful completion of 128 semester credit hours for graduation. The curriculum emphasizes engineering technology, business management, communications, and computer applications. Students are encouraged to specialize in an area of particular career interest. This specialization usually involves obtaining a minor in some complimentary field of study. Laboratory experiences are a part of many of the major courses. This provides the opportunity for "hands-on" learning. Most major courses also require some type of team related project which involves written and oral reporting. This helps students develop leadership and communications skills. Although not required for graduation, a co-operative education internship with industry is highly encouraged. Internships usually include one semester and a summer work experience, but length and timing vary by company. An internship gives you the opportunity to gain practical work experience prior to graduation. Many companies now look for co-operative work experience when hiring new graduates. It is a very valuable marketing asset for students. |
